General Description and Classification Standards

Defines, designs and implements solutions for the Server. This is an experienced, professional level capable of carrying out most assignments typical of the profession with limited guidance or review. This level would be considered a promotional level and attainable by any incumbents in a work group who demonstrate the necessary knowledge, ability, and performance. Could be the only professional in this specialty in a work group.

Supervision Received

Performs work under general supervision with review and advice from manager or a senior level professional.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities These are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. May perform other duties as assigned.

Maintain the overall efficiency and health of the Windows environment Provide day-to-day support for server issues at the hardware or Windows operating systems layers, including after-hours support as necessary.
Build new Windows servers based on established standard configurations.
Patch the Windows server and Windows desktop environments.
Fulfill Active Directory and Windows network access requests, and manage the health and design of the Active Directory environment.
Oversee the server backup process.
Identify opportunities to improve processes and work with team to implement solutions to do so.
Complete special projects and requests as assigned.
Script and deploy software to Windows servers and Windows desktops.
Manage consistency of configuration settings on Windows servers and Windows desktops through group policy.
Develop and publish reports on key performance indicators for the Windows server environment.

Selects from multiple procedures and methods to accomplish tasks.
Follows standardized procedures and written instructions to accomplish assigned tasks.

Leadership Provided

Serves as a technical resource or mentor to other employees.
May lead or instruct less experienced workers in high level or technical jobs.

Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering or related field (Equivalent professional experience may be considered for substitution for the required degree on an exception basis).
