Job Summary
Provide administrative and clerical duties to the Communications Director and Communications staff. May provide administrative and clerical assistance to the Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, Sr. Admin Officer and other managerial staff, as assigned. Serve as Receptionist for the MDVA Veterans Service Building location. Provide reception services to the customers, clients and staff of the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs. NOTE: This role requires working on-site Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications

Customer service skills sufficient to assist Veterans/customers in person, by phone, and in writing/by email with tact and diplomacy, meeting quality standards
Word processing sufficient to use software such as Microsoft Word to create, format, edit, print and save a variety of documents including tables, charts and graphs, to type and format letters and memos, and create reports by combining and presenting data from multiple sources in an organized format
Spreadsheet skills sufficient to use software such as Microsoft Excel to enter, compile, store and retrieve data
English language skills sufficient to use business English grammar, spelling, and punctuation to edit reports, letters, and other documents, and to communicate effectively
Preferred Qualifications
Administrative support skills including ordering supplies, processing invoices, tracking expenses, facilitating mailings and researching information online.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of office management
Excellent communication skills
Experience working in a marketing or public relations office
