Planned Parenthood of Northern New England (PPNNE) is searching for a qualified candidate to fill a full time, 37.5 hours/week, Vermont-based Associate Philanthropy Officer position on our Development Team. The Associate Philanthropy Officer may work primarily from home or from a regional office, and will travel across the state for work, but will have a primary focus on western Vermont at this time. This position will be responsible for helping build visibility of and support for PPNNE in key communities; and will build relationships and connections between supporters and PPNNE. The Associate Philanthropy Officer will identify, qualify, and solicit current and prospective donors who might be capable of providing major philanthropic investments in support of the mission and objectives of Planned Parenthood of Northern New England. This position will be responsible for securing philanthropic support for both capital and general operating needs, primarily in the $1,000 to $5,000 range, and possibly higher. Serving as the primary moves manager for a portfolio of approximately 150 to 200 current and prospective major donors and key connectors, the Associate Philanthropy Officer will work closely with the Senior Philanthropy Director in increasing support for PPNNE across the state.
Essential Functions
Secure philanthropic investments in support of the mission and objectives of PPNNE. The Associate Philanthropy Officer will be responsible for building and managing a prospective major gifts portfolio (currently this means primarily working with individuals giving $1,000 to $5,000 annually): identifying and qualifying donors and building relationships for potential major gifts support (currently $5,000+); identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors and major gift prospects.
Work collaboratively with other team members and staff at PPNNE toward their goal of building relationships in key communities, identifying and qualifying prospective major gifts supporters, and securing increased investments in PPNNE’s mission.
Participate in all aspects of the gift cycle: Initiate contacts with prospective major gifts donors, developappropriate cultivation strategies for them, including working with volunteers, make solicitations and move potential donors in an appropriate and timely fashion through the gift cycle (identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship)
Adhere to the highest ethical standards; demonstrate empathetic disposition, and perseverance; reflect optimistic and positive attitude, and convey sensitivity to needs of the donors
Manage, support, and staff major donor and prospect events
Engage donors and prospective donors through personalized cultivation and stewardship strategies, including 1:1 visits, events, and more
Move donors and prospective donors up through the major gifts pipeline through your engagement and solicitation
Be a resource for development and other staff, from identifying potential volunteer connections to knowing about meeting and event spaces in key locations
Record, or facilitate recording, donor interactions, relationships, and other relevant information in the donor database in accordance with database policies and procedures
Participate in crafting strategies to secure philanthropic gifts to the organization
Work with the Annual Fund staff to identify major donor prospects from the Annual Fund supporter pool
Approach donor strategy with the longevity of the organization as well as the donor’s immediate intent in mind, integrating planned and long-term stewardship plans as part of the solicitation process
Maintain donor confidentiality and abide by the Association of Fundraising Professionals code of ethics in all fundraising activities. Conform to standards of performance and conduct, including those pertaining to patient and donor rights, so that the best possible service may be provided.
Work collaboratively with and in support of volunteers, other development, and public affairs staff, and other PPNNE representatives to cultivate and solicit donors for organization-wide priorities
Monitor all prospect contacts to ensure positive and purposeful prospect and donor relations
PPNNE Associate Philanthropy Officers also work as fundraisers on behalf of the Planned Parenthood State Action Fund and PAC in their state and will work to secure resources and support for those organizations.
Utilize PPNNE’s Values as the basis for decision-making and to facilitate PPNNE’s mission
Bachelor’s Degree, 2 to 4 years successful experience in fundraising, including successful solicitation experience and direct donor engagement work, and preferred 1:1 in-person donor work
Must have excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated record of completing assignments
Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite and preferred familiarity with fundraising software programs (The Raiser’s Edge preferred)
Must be willing to travel and work occasional evenings or weekends

Compensation & Benefits
The range of pay is $27.50 – $40.07/hr based on level of experience. Access to benefits are available including health, dental, vision insurance, paid time off and retirement fund.
