Qualifications

A high school diploma or equivalent and three years of experience in the receipt, maintenance, retrieval, recycling, and disposition of inactive records. Two or more years required in PC software applications. Previous record management experience with one or more government agencies desirable.

Basic Functions

Assists in the operation of the records center warehouse which includes the receipt, shelving maintenance, recycle, retrieval, filing, indexing and disposition of all Authority and Authority-related General Engineering Consultant (GEC) records in accordance with Georgia State Records Act and applicable policies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Examines and evaluates system to develop new or improve existing methods for the efficient handling, protection, retention, and disposal of MARTA records in accordance with Georgia State Records Act. In conjunction with Records Management Officer, confers with employees and supervisors to identify and resolve records-management problems.
2. Assists in database maintenance and data entry. Recommends changes or modifications in records retention standards, utilizing knowledge of functions of operating units, coding systems, and filing methods. Prepares records retention schedules and standards.
3. Assists in the evaluation of requests to purchase storage, retrieval, or disposal equipment according to knowledge of equipment capability and cost.
4. Ensures that all vital records are properly protected and maintained in compliance with the Authority's Vital Records Program. Disposes of records and prepares destruction certificates in accordance with all applicable procedures.
5. Picks up and delivers records as requested by Authority personnel and in compliance with all pertinent procedures and policies.
6. Assists in conducting annual training sessions in Records Management Procedures for Authority staff.
7. Performs other related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

1. Walks or stands for more than 4 hours per shift.
2. Sits for up to 4 hours per shift (including breaks, lunch, driving, etc.).
3. Must kneel, stoop, squat or bend to perform tasks.
4. Bends forward at the lower back to perform tasks.
5. Climbs stairs.
6. Occasionally lifts and carries materials weighing up to 60 pounds.
7. Lifts and carries 25-35 pound loads several times per shift.
8. Performs up to 160 lifts per day (any weight).
9. Pushes carts and/or dollies loaded with 1000 pounds of materials.
10. Moves materials weighing 10-300 pounds several hundred feet by using a cart or hand truck.
11. Reaches from floor level to 96 inches (overhead) above the floor.
