The Dental Patient Care Coordinator will attend to patients on the phone and in person. He/she is responsible for coordination and organization of the dental appointments schedule. In addition, the individual shall work with the Dental Practice Administrator to ensure maximum efficiency of dental clinic workflow. Performs duties that make use of advanced skills relative to health information management including, but not limited to providing customer service and release of information; chart completion; gathering statistics and preparing reports; and scanning, importing and distributing data. Performs all necessary basic clerical skills during the course of business. This individual shall ensure completeness, organization, and accuracy of dental appointments, patient records, and patient information.
Major Duties & Responsibilities: Job Skills

  • Greet and checks patients in and out
  • Answers telephone and voice messages in a timely manner and is professional, friendly, and helpful with all requests.
  • Respond and comply to requests for patient information
  • Update and maintain patient information including medical history and proof of income
  • Schedule and confirm all dental patient appointments
  • Call patients with outstanding treatment and needed hygiene recall and record calls when made
  • Verifies insurance and collect and receipt payments from patients at time of service
  • Dispatch lab work appropriately and follow-up with lab to assure timely delivery of cases
  • Provide assistance to other dental staff as needed as time allows.
  • Must be responsible in handling patient information according to HIPAA guidelines
  • Attends and participates in in-service education for staff, quality assurance program, and risk-management programs
  • Runs end of day report and balances all money collected and submits to Dental Practice Administrator

Required Skills/abilities

  • Bi-Lingual in Spanish
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Requires effective interpersonal skills
  • Requires analytical skills, attention to detail, effective organization skills, ability to work in a fast paced environment and ability to self-direct with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency with Dentrix is preferred
  • Basic knowledge of dental terminology and ability to present dental information to patients.

Qualification, Education, Experience

  • Requires High School Diploma or equivalent
  • CPR certification
  • 1-2 years in dental practice experience preferred

Physical/Mental Demands

  • Work requires the ability to lift or carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds
  • Alternates frequently to sitting, walking and standing.
