Children’s Inn, a program of Children’s Home Society, in Sioux Falls, SD is currently seeking a full-time Administrative Assistant to provide receptionist, clerical support, and volunteer coordination in accordance with the organization’s Mission Statement and Core Values.
What You’ll Do:
Your responsibilities as a full-time Administrative Assistant would include:

  • Answer doors and assist visitors.
  • Answer telephone, route callers and distribute messages
  • Train new staff and volunteers on Receptionist duties.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security standards at all times.
  • Receive and distribute incoming mail, and prepare and post outgoing mail.
  • Assimilate and type reports and correspondence.
  • File administrative correspondence and reports.
  • Provide assistance with billing, data entry and year end reports as requested.
  • Assist in microfilm process.
  • Receive and document in-kind donations.
  • Assist with data entry and maintenance of client electronic records database.
  • Maintain conference room reservations and room set-up, as requested.
  • Assist with new employee badge and photo processing as requested.
  • Maintain employee calling tree.
  • Attend assigned meetings and training.
  • Assist with client needs in shelter, as requested.
  • Other projects as assigned for administrative and program staff.
  • Make sure volunteer files comply with licensing standards and requirements.
  • Coordinate suitable placements of volunteers at Children’s Inn.
  • Coordinate group volunteer activities, as appropriate.
  • Provide orientation and training to volunteers commensurate with the position.
  • Provide performance evaluation and feedback to volunteers, commensurate of activity level.
  • Maintain records of volunteer activity
  • Ensure volunteers are recognized and appreciated.
  • Coordinate volunteer support for special events and fundraising events.
  • Seek input from staff regarding needs and opportunities for volunteers.
  • Respond to volunteer inquiries & referrals from both individuals and groups in a timely manner

  • Feedback from staff regarding support is positive.
  • Feedback from in-kind donors is consistently positive.

Schedule: 9:00 AM-5:30 PM Monday-Friday *Some evening/weekend work as needed.

Compensation: * $17.00/hr + applicable education & work experience

. Requirements: Experience/Education/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Human Services preferred. Experience in a similar position desirable
  • Knowledge of and ability to use personal computers and software utilized by office.
  • Valid South Dakota driver’s license preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Residential environment focused on care of children in crisis situations. Extended periods of PC viewing and keyboarding required. Extended periods of sedentary work required.
Must successfully complete all required background/pre-employment checks. EEO/AA
