JOB SUMMARY: The Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) assures radiological safety and compliance with NRC and DOT regulations and the conditions of the license for Avera McKennan Hospital and University Heath Center as well as sites in Minnesota, Nebraska, and Iowa. The RSO is responsible for ensuring that department quality assurance program is established that meets or exceeds state and national radiation equipment, agreement state, and nuclear regulatory standards. This quality assurance program is developed for the existing and new equipment and software. They ensure radiation safety throughout the practice, implement and monitor the quality assurance program, and address any variances that may arise for a quick and satisfactory resolution.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Graduated from an Accredited School of Radiologic Technology or successful completion of a formal Nuclear Medicine Technology training program or successful completion of Health Physics Program required.
Training as a Radiation Safety Officer required.
CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, and/or REGISTRATIONS:
R.T. (T) ARRT Registry or NMTC-B or Health Physics certification required.
Nuclear Regulatory Commission licensure required.
Location: Avera McKennan · MCK Nuclear Medicine
Schedule: Full Time, Day Shift, Monday-Friday; 80hrs/2wks
