Job Description Summary:
Under the general direction of the Manager of IT, monitors, evaluates, and maintains systems and procedures to protect the organization’s data systems and databases from unauthorized users. May research, recommend, and implement approved changes to procedures and systems to enhance data systems security.

Under the general direction of the Manager of IT, monitors, evaluates, and maintains systems and procedures to protect the organization’s data systems and databases from unauthorized users. May research, recommend, and implement approved changes to procedures and systems to enhance data systems security.


Installing, administering, and troubleshooting network security solutions.
Updating software with the latest security patches and ensuring the proper defenses are present for each network resource.
Performing vulnerability assessments, identifying and defending against threats, and developing disaster recovery plans.
Configuring security systems, work with third party security vendors, analyzing security requirements, and recommending improvements.
Creating, maintaining, and monitoring network policies and authorization roles for audit requirements.
Working with vendors that service and maintain the company’s security posture.
Consulting with staff, managers, and executives about the best security practices and providing technical advice.
Configuring and supporting security tools, such as firewalls, device control, and anti-virus software.
Working closely with team to support system updates, system configurations/reconfigurations, and assist with other support issues.
Assists with establishing and maintaining standards and procedures for necessary audit controls.
Ensuring documentation is appropriate, accurate and up to date.
Assisting user departments in defining access control needs.
Maintaining computer systems and server room security as defined by corporate policy.
Working with third party security vendors to maintain compliance, policies, and procedures.
Communicating with management, through weekly and special reports, to ensure all security-associated problems and processing requirements are identified in a timely manner.


Attends training as needed.
Other duties as assigned.





Must have a desire to learn new skills and work with new technologies.
Microsoft Server Operating Systems, Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Active Directory, and general communication protocol.
Understanding of basic networking.
Programming or scripting skills.
Diagnostic capabilities for all associated hardware, software, and communication lines.
Above average verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to handle change and a self-starting attitude.
Ability to work independently and coordinate with others to prioritize projects as well as combining research and expertise to assist organization.


Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field is preferred.
Preference will be given to candidates with documented specialized training in Microsoft Azure, Office 365, Active Directory, and servers.
Certifications in CompTIA, Microsoft, Networking, or Security.
Current valid driver’s license is required.

EXPERIENCE: [Core 25a]

3 to 5 years of IT Security work experience required (typically in security and support of an enterprise environment).

Visual acuity sufficient to work at a computer screen frequently and throughout the day, near and far visual acuity, depth perception, color vision sufficient to recognize people, words, and numbers;
Sufficient mobility to move about, including standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing/pulling;
Crawling in confined spaces in buildings;
Lifting up to twenty-five (25) pounds frequently, fifty (50) pounds on an occasional basis, and in excess of fifty (50) pounds with assistance. The heavy objects to be lifted include personal computers, printers, and related equipment;
Speaking and hearing ability sufficient to hear over phone and carry on routine conversations;
See to read manuals, video display screens, and other related material;
Drive an automobile and transport equipment and documents;
Sit for extended periods in a typing position;
Hand-eye-arm and finger dexterity to use a personal computer keyboard, ten-key, and other common office equipment for long periods of time.
