JOB SUMMARY
With limited supervision from the Security Captain, the Security Officer is responsible for the security and protection of patients, visitors, personnel, and hospital assets at the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC) contract. This includes operating a vehicle to perform patrol, inspection and/or incident response services. This position works night shift on a 1 week on / 1 week off rotational schedule.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Must be at least 18 years of age.
High School diploma or equivalent
Able to proficiently speak, read, understand, and write English
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Qualified to obtain Unarmed Security Officer guard license (State of Alaska)
CPR Certification (or able to obtain immediately after hire)
Must be able to pass the Company’s pre-employment screening process, including drug screen, criminal background investigation, and post-offer physical/fitness for duty evaluation.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Previous experience in hospital security
Prior work experience in private security, military service, law enforcement, or related field
Certified in use of handcuffs
Certified in First Aid, CPR, and AED
Ability to communicate with others in a professional and respectful manner.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Respond to medical emergencies, alarms, and other security related occurrences such as suspicious activities or trespassing, and notify appropriate authorities as necessary, i.e. law enforcement, fire department, etc.
Perform walking patrols of ANTHC campus as directed
Control access to facilities and enforce visiting procedures within scope of authority
Perform exterior and interior patrols of designated buildings on the ANTHC campus
Perform roving vehicular patrols of designated ANTHC parking lots
Conduct security surveillance on ANTHC property
Warn violators of safety and security rules, and restrain persons engaging in hostile or criminal acts
Perform arrest if necessary, using handcuffs
Gather information in investigations by interviewing and obtaining statements
Conduct visual surveillance for extended period of time
Exercise sound judgment in determining appropriate action when there is reasonable suspicion to detain
Ability to work in a constant state of alertness in a safe manner
Willingness to work at various job locations as required
Willingness to perform other duties as required

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
The majority of work is performed in outdoor environment conducting exterior building patrols and vehicular patrols of parking lots, interacting with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities and abilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The employee’s work requires routine walking, standing, bending and carrying items. Applicant will be required to successfully complete a post-offer pre-hire physical and functional capacity exam.
