Technical Functions (35%)
Ensure safe and efficient operation of process equipment through active operations engagement management, process monitoring and troubleshooting.
Support the implementation of research and evaluation projects.
Conduct and document research investigations.
Prepare quantitative measurement tools for distribution by formatting paper forms or building electronic surveys.
Collect qualitative and quantitative data by conducting interviews/observations and administering surveys/assessments as needed.
Develop codebooks to ensure accurate data entry and storage.
Enter quantitative data into spreadsheets ensuring the appropriate data structure and security.
Prepare data for analysis by cleaning, coding, and merging data.
Conduct qualitative (coding, theming) and quantitative data analysis (descriptives, ANOVA, regression, multivariate).
Support plant operations throughout US and Internationally as required.
Support the development of deliverables, presentations, and manuscripts by participating in storyboarding sessions, writing report sections, presenting deliverables, and supporting manuscript development.
Logistical Functions (35%)
Hands-on operation, maintenance, and sanitation of Pilot Brewery equipment and facilities.
Complete daily and weekly tasks using Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) to ensure sustained and repeatable quality and overall performance results.
Document proper allocation of time and materials by project daily.
Ensure cross-training of team members, maximize use of all available resources, and overall team competency.
Drive preventative and routine operator maintenance program including operator checks and lubrication of machinery and equipment.
Team & Leadership Functions (30%)
Lead by example and drive all Plant and Safety policies and procedures within the Brewery, including wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as well as adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Ensure team members are accountable to same.
Effectively communicate job knowledge and process changes to team members and management through various forms of daily communication (shift handover meeting, daily production meetings, email, action logs, work orders, etc.).
Effective escalation measures taken for safety, equipment and/or personnel issues for immediate resolution.
Qualifications, Education, & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and/or Life Sciences: Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Physics, Food Science
0 to 7 years working experience
Master’s Degree a plus
Skills & Abilities
Excellent communication verbal and written communication skills
Works collaboratively within various teams
Working knowledge of ISO, GMP, and HACCP food safety as it relates to the manufacturing process
Ability to adjust communication/leadership style as needed and when appropriate
Solution oriented, critical thinking, efficient decision making, and RCFA
Strong analytical background including knowledge of statistical applications and tools
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize work while multitasking
Ability to receive regular feedback and act upon it accordingly
Demonstrated drive for learning and teaching/sharing best practices with others
Fermentation, Distillation, blending, packaging experience a plus
Forklift experience a plus
Proficient with personal computers and business applications such as Minitab, MS Office, Excel, Word, and Teams
