POSITION: Airport Operations Coordinator I / II

REPORTS TO: Airport Operations Supervisor on duty Airport Operations Manager

LOCATION: New Haven, Connecticut

AIRPORT: Tweed-New Haven Airport

SUMMARY

This position works under general supervision and performs various duties at the airport as directed by operational requirements. Follows established guidelines and procedures to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the airport facility. This position reports directly to the Airport Operations Supervisor on duty. The position has required overtime hours.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES under the direction on the shift supervisor and airport management, including but not limited to the following:

Coordinator I

Perform airfield inspections and assist the department with record keeping responsibilities of all aeronautical areas including pavement, markings, lighting, safety areas, wildlife control, construction, emergency equipment, and fueling practices as it relates to Part 139.
Identify and resolve any hazardous conditions that may affect the operation of aircraft or impede the flow of passengers and vehicle traffic.
Maintain and operate the Airport Operations Watch Room, issue aircraft advisories, render assistance in the directing and parking of commercial service or private aircraft if needed.
Update and maintain all required pertinent records on the computer-based Airport Operations Daily Log and assist in providing professional services.
During periods of snow and ice removal, drive/operate select snow removal equipment, as assigned. Communicate change of existing conditions of roadways and movement areas.
Perform tasks at the Snow Desk, file Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs), update airfield conditions via computer-based programs, and communicate changing conditions of movement areas as direct by the Snow Boss. Confirm receipt of airfield condition reports with tenants.
Coordinate construction and maintenance activities on or near the facility to ensure airport safety standards and maintain operational status. This includes escorting personnel and vehicles into secured areas and the AOA of the airport.
Perform airport security inspections and video monitoring under the requirements of TSR1542. Respond to any unauthorized entry of persons or vehicles in the terminal and on AOA.
Maintain equipment and work environment in clean, neat, and orderly condition.
Employee uniform shall be maintained and properly worn while on duty.
Position involves shift work and mandatory overtime.
Perform other tasks as assigned by the Airport Operations Supervisor and Airport Management.
Maintain acceptable attendance and performance at required training functions.
Must complete initial airfield driver training and maintain airfield driving privileges through annual recurrent driver training.
Requires completion of Advanced Airport Safety Operations School or successful demonstration of equivalent on-the-job training.

Airport Operations Coordinator II Requirements

Successful completion of Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) training benchmarks for FAR Part 139 training requirements, including FAA 40-hour Basic ARFF Training.
Progression to Coordinator II requires completion of Advanced Airport Safety Operations Specialist School or successful demonstration of equivalent on-the-job training.
Progression to Coordinator II requires completion of Basic Airport Winter Operations Specialist School or successful demonstration of equivalent on-the-job training.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Four-year degree, with focus in airport management/operations preferred. Employer may consider experience in lieu of degree preferences.

Ability to perform the duties of this classification to Company standards, which includes, but not limited to passing, to the satisfaction of the Company, initial and periodic Company tests to ensure the initial and ongoing maintenance of required level of proficiency.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Acquires all licenses or certificates required by regulatory agencies.

Meet the required training criteria under FAR Part 139.

Pass Company test pertaining to Federal Aviation Administration Federal Aviation Regulation Part 139.

Able to successfully complete ARFF training and duties. Employee will be required to undergo regularly scheduled medical evaluations to ensure they are capable of safely utilizing Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).

Meet or exceed required security training and performance criteria as mandated in the Federal Approved Airport Security Plan.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
