Hennepin County District Court, Criminal Division seeks to fill a Court Operations Associate position in the Criminal eFiling Unit.

This Position will work primarily in the Criminal eFiling Unit and provide backup to the Violations Bureau. Work involves accepting and processing electronic case filings and assisting the Signing Judge in the courtroom. The back-up responsibilities of this position include assisting the general public, representatives from other agencies, attorneys, judges, and other staff by providing and explaining court rules, and procedures.

This AFSCME-represented position is classified as a Senior Court Clerk, with a working title of Court Operations Associate. The Criminal eFiling Unit is located on the Public Service Level of the Hennepin County Government Center in downtown Minneapolis at 300 South 6th Street, C-244. The hours for this position will be between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Monday-Friday; hours may vary depending on division needs. This position is currently working both remotely and in-person, and will become fully in-person post-pandemic. Expected starting salary is $20.44 per hour.

Example of Duties

Accurately complete administrative work utilizing court technology and available resources to ensure electronic filings are reviewed and accepted, cases are processed, and reports are audited in a timely manner
Coordinate, communicate, and collaborate with team members to ensure daily work assignments and case processing are completed efficiently and accurately.
Provide excellent customer service to court users and justice partners in a professional, courteous, respectful and timely manner to ensure customer's needs are met over the phone or electronically
Provide courtroom support by assisting the Criminal Signing Judge, other justice partners and the general public to effectively meet the business needs of the court
Provide back-up to the Criminal Violations Bureau staff as needed to ensure adequate office coverage and team goals are achieved

Typical Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience providing customer service
Experience working in a clerical or administrative position (for example: bank teller, cashier, court clerk, legal assistant, medical billing specialist)

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with internal and external customers
Ability to de-escalate difficult customer interactions and work respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds, both as customers and co-workers
Team oriented, with a positive attitude and the ability to establish and maintain respectful, effective relationships
Reliable, with the ability to meet commitments and keep work projects on task, with minimal supervision
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
Ability to learn and retain new material and concepts; make independent judgments based on training, resources and experience
Demonstrates initiative and self-directed completion of work upon knowledge of expectations and goals
Attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to multi-task, work well under pressure and work in a high volume, fast-paced work environment
Ability to learn Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat and other, job related software

Preferred Qualifications:
E-filing experience
Effective writing, interpersonal and customer service skills
Knowledge of legal and court systems
Well-organized and analytical
Ability to handle financial transactions at the public counter with customers
