PRIMARY PURPOSE/POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides operational and administrative support to the University Librarian and library operations campus-wide.

JOB COMPONENTS/PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides administrative assistance to the University Librarian and manages day-to-day operations in the University Librarian’s office.
- Liaises between the Provost’s Office, Buildings and Grounds, Campus Safety and Security, Business Office, Human Resources, Scheduling and Event Services, Office Services, and Information Technology departments in order to coordinate the service needs of the library.
- Participates in and leads special library projects.
- Provides support to the University Archivist and Special Collections Librarian.
- Committed to working with a diverse population of students, faculty, staff, and community library users.
- Cooperates as a team member with the library staff in performing any duty essential in the achievement of efficient library operations.
- Performs other duties as requested, delegated, or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Advanced knowledge and experience using Microsoft products; in particular Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Administrative support and office expertise with excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Clear understanding of confidentiality, discretion, and tact.
- Evidence of problem solving, ability to manage priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work and make sound judgments independently yet able to work in a collaborative environment.
- Ability to use standard office equipment: scanners, fax machines, photocopiers, and printers.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Experience working within a college or university environment, and in particular an academic library is highly desirable.
