The Manager of Business Intelligence is accountable for building insight products and capabilities that enable the fulfillment of Billings Clinic’s business needs and objectives. The Manager of Business Intelligence is focusing on developing and delivering enterprise-level business insights that are impactful, versatile, optimized for user experience, and integrated into customers’ workflow. The Manager of Business Intelligence is also accountable for educating broad stakeholders on analytical tools to advance organizational data literacy and adoption. This includes but is not limited to data insights integration, operational reporting, ad-hoc & analysis, and self-service dashboards.

The Manager of Business Intelligence will report to the Director of the Center of Data Excellence or Chief Data Officer and will supervise a team of business intelligence analysts. The individual will interact with both internal stakeholders (Data Engineering, Data Science, Information Technology), business stakeholders, clinical internal clients, and with external entities (vendors, partners, etc.).

Essential Job Functions

  • Manage an agile team that designs, develops, tests, implements, and deploys business insights tools (self-service dashboards, ad-hoc reports, etc.).
  • Guide Business Intelligence Analysts on visualization tools, data sources, analysis approaches, the transformation of data, and deployment approaches.
  • Design, implement, and maintain business / clinical metrics and KPI. Interacts with business and clinical stakeholders to understand their needs, requirements, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Partner with Data Science and Data Engineering teams to enhance the data environment with new data sources or transform existing ones.
  • Ensures the quality, integrity of the tools and capabilities, and identifies opportunities for improvement in how the customers use and adopt tools and capabilities.
  • Facilitates and manages Business Intelligence team’s backlog, prioritizes business objectives that align with the organization, assigns individual tasks, coordinates tasks with Data Engineering and Data Science, ensures productivity, and adherence to standards and policies.
  • Guides, mentors, and motivates Business Intelligence Analysts, ensuring team engagement, as well as continued growth and development. Acts as both a player and a coach, operating as an individual contributor while also guiding and developing a talented team of business intelligence analysts.
  • Conducts regular planning meetings with business stakeholders to develop a road map and understand needs for new capabilities.
  • Participates in the development of frameworks, strategies, and plans to deploy data and insights to end customers.
  • Represents business intelligence function in enterprise data governance, as well as in the budgeting and planning processes.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned or as needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
Minimum Qualifications
Education

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or equivalent required

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in analytics, business intelligence, statistics, data science, consulting, or another relevant field.
  • Experience mentoring and managing Business Intelligence Analysts, ensuring best practices are being followed.
  • Mastery of reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, Cerner CCL, etc.). knowledge of data visualization techniques, and a passion for telling stories with data to a technical and non-technical audience.
  • Coding proficiency in at least one programming language (SQL, Python, R, Java, etc.).
  • Strong analytical skills and a proven ability to work with large data sets and give structure to ambiguous problems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate complex solutions to senior leadership, gain alignment and drive progress.
  • Self-starter with intellectual curiosity for what drives our business.
  • Health Care experience preferred but not required.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
