Responsible for supporting projects and initiatives designed to improve efficiency and/or achieve cost savings across Bridgeport Hospital (BH). Assists with coordinating the development, implementation, and evaluation of performance improvement activities. This includes but is not limited to: 1: supporting the hospital's performance improvement process, 2: identifying performance trends, 3: prioritizing and facilitating teams to develop improvement initiatives. This position will provide support to ensure compliance with all Joint Commission and regulatory standards. Investigates specific areas of concern as identified by the VP Operations, Milford Campus. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities:
1. Collaborates with hospital and analytic leaders to identify and prioritize performance improvement projects that are essential to meeting hospital goals and objectives.
2. Defines scope of initiatives, functional, operational activities and business processes by mapping within the hospital.
3. Conducts assessment and performance summary of operational and business processes identifying opportunities for improvement (i.e. standard work, staff competencies, policy/ procedure, performance indicators etc.). Prioritizes and makes recommendations for next steps, project team formation and charter development.
4. Participates in department committees and task forces to facilitate productive and action oriented outcomes and to provide input related to applicable performance improvement tools and techniques.
5. Develops appropriate analyses that meet users' needs and supports business plans. Provides data in a useable format allowing for the identification, analysis and evaluation of alternative strategies as solutions of business and operational issues requiring management attention.
6. Designs and utilizes dashboards and performance indicator reports (both at Executive and Team Levels) to monitor key outcome measurements and operational goals. Drives utilization of dashboards by all team members. Assures real time and digital access to dashboards.
7. Ability to develop project business plans and cost/benefit analysis as required to support the goals of the hospital and to facilitate the approval and advancement of specific initiatives.
8. Leads, facilitates and executes projects to improve clinical outcomes and operational efficiencies. Provides leadership and direction in meetings to establish and define goals and objectives. Interacts with all levels of the organization as required.
9. Communicates with all levels of hospital staff and leadership to include clinical and operational departments.
10. Utilizes appropriate information systems to collect, format, measure and report on established project related KPI's.
11. Responsibility and accountability for improving clinical outcomes, and operational efficiencies and the driving customer satisfaction for internal and external constituents.
12. Provides project management and staff support to optimize operational program planning and performance, and provides ongoing project support and assistance as needed.
13. Develops and documents new policies and procedures, standard work, workflows and competencies for clinical operations. Obtains approval and ensures processes are established to enforce the policies. Develops necessary training, tools and reports to assist in the administration of the policies.
14. Uses Six Sigma, CAP, LEAN, Workout and other tools and methodologies to achieve process improvement.
15. Promotes professional management and staff accountability for improvements in clinical outcomes.

Qualifications:
EDUCATION

Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration or related field.

EXPERIENCE

Three years of experience preferred in healthcare or management consulting. Experience in data analysis and reporting required.

SPECIAL SKILLS

Excellent analytical and quantitative skills. Ability to effectively conduct various types of analysis including: process, marketplace, organizational financial, operational and staffing. Ability to organize activities and establish priorities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to navigate across departments and delivery networks to achieve results. Knowledge and experience using CAP, Workout and Lean is required.

PHYSICAL DEMAND

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is required to stand and walk. The employee must frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally move and/or lift up to 50 pounds. The specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Incumbents as well as external and internal applicants who become disabled must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without the assistance of reasonable accommodation as determined on a case by case basis.
