Inspects, cleans, assembles and sterilizes surgical instrument sets. Operates cleaning and sterilization equipment in order to clean instruments, endoscopes, and supplies. Is proficient in the technical and quality performance metrics.
Competencies:
A. Education:
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required.
B. Knowledge:
Surgical Instruments and Medical Surgical Supplies.
Completion of basic medical terminology
C. Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (Intra and Inter Departmental).
- Work requires high level of accuracy including documentation.
- Ability to complete basic computer skills
CBSPD or IAHCSMM Certification
E. Work Experience:
Minimum of two years instrument processing experience required. Must have demonstrated competence in all instrument set assembly and sterilization to include all specialties.
F. Machines, Tools, Equipment:
Required to operate Washer/Decontaminators, Steam Sterilizers, Gas Sterilizers/Aerators, Gas Plasma Sterilizers, Sonic Cleaners, Heat Sealing Equipment, and Computer Systems,
