Position Summary
Under general guidance, provide managerial and administrative direction and support for the daily security, safety, emergency response protocols and ensuring excellent, courteous and prompt guest service is provided by all department employees working at Sandia Resort & Casino, the Amphitheatre, and the Sandia Tribal lodging and recreating complex.
Supervision Exercised
Reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer.
Supervises the following personnel:
Administrative Supervisor for Claims.
Administrative Assistant
Lieutenants
Other assigned personnel
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Manages, directs and/or performs activities designed to provide a safe, secure and customer-oriented environment for casino employees and the general public.
Oversees planning and scheduling of security personnel to ensure no shift or site location shortages.
Evaluates all possible causes of service deficiencies and initiates corrective action.
Develops new service processes, standards and measurements.
Influences functional area managers to implement new service processes and directives.
Links multiple service components to completely understand their interrelationship and impact on the customer’s experience.
Requisitions equipment, uniform apparel, supplies and other materials to facilitate security operations.
Oversees and monitors training and safety programs for security personnel.
Develops, implements, enforces and updates Standard Operating Procedures, Emergency Standard Operating Procedures, Special Post Orders and other internal control documents as required.
Serves as on-site security commander and as an assistant to the Chief Operating Officer, General Manager/Assistant General Manager, for emergency situations and security alerts at the Casino, Amphitheater and the Tribal lodging/recreation complex.
Arbitrates security-related internal disputes involving casino operations and personnel.
Formulates, administers and monitors both a capitol and operational departmental budget.
Manages all activities conducted by the Security Administrative Supervisor and Administrative Coordinator in charge of non-criminal investigations, accidents, workers compensation claims, and other liability claims against the property.
Provides full support for Sandia Pueblo Tribal requirements and/or activities/special events as requested.
When directed, appears at hearings and provides testimony as required.
Prepares, provides and maintains evidence and/or testimony as necessary and ensures that all violations of regulatory and procedural controls are reported.
Ensures security of confidential departmental files and reports.
Develops and implements administrative procedures and processes as necessary.
Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Chief Operating Officer and/or Pueblo Tribal Officers or the Tribal Counsel.
Provides personnel support to augment the Sandia Tribal Police.

Possess basic knowledge of general safety practices, regulations and policies.
Possess strong knowledge of security practices and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience
Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or Security Management/Administration and six (6) years’ experience in a law enforcement and/or security environment (military or civilian). Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling ten (10) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Three (3) years in a supervisory capacity for security or law enforcement.
Must be at least 25 years of age.
Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted New Mexico Driver’s License.
Preferred:
Master's Degree in any of the above disciplines.
Licensing Status
Must be able to obtain and maintain the required Gaming License.
Will require a post-offer, pre-employment and random drug screening.
Ability to obtain and maintain State of New Mexico firearms certification.
Ability to obtain and maintain any other licenses and/or certifications as determined by management.
Working Conditions
Work is performed mostly indoors with some outdoor work.
Salaried position (minimum 40-hour week).
Must be able to work long hours in a stressful environment.
Subject to hazards which could cause personal bodily harm, i.e., arduous physical exertion, smoke, common colds, influenza, dust, odors, elevated noise levels, traffic, contaminated needles, guns and knives.
Tasks may be performed on uneven, inclined, hard and soft carpeted floors, cement structures and surfaces.
Duties may involve walking, climbing, crawling, standing for long periods of time, sitting, crouching, kneeling, running and the ability to assume prone positions.
