As the Digital Buyer, you ensure that our best products are represented on and tell the brand story for an immersive customer experience. As the Buyer, you will plan and purchase your channel/category assortment as well as determine the relevant mix of merchandise in accordance with customer demand, market trends, brand direction and fiscal obligations. Here at The North Face, you will be empowered to drive results- maximize sales, gross margin performance and inventory productivity. This is an analytical job—we need someone who is detail oriented and enjoys operating control-related standards and procedures. This role is highly influential and requires a strong collaboration with Global Category Management, Digital Content, Marketing, and most importantly your first team of Buying, Planning, and Site Merchandising.

How You Will Make a Difference

What you will do:
Oversee the assortment strategy for owned category/channel – assess brand strategies in conjunction with Direct-to-Consumer assortment needs.
Ideate and brief market relevant product category and collection opportunities to drive consumer loyalty and retention.
Own the coordination and collaboration with Retail Buying counterpart throughout the GTM process to ensure a consistent omni-channel customer experience.
Execute style/color adoption and forecasts during Sketch and Proto Review GTM milestones.
Present assortment and investment strategies to management during seasonal Buy reviews.
Create and analyze product selling reports, channel hindsight’s, and ad-hoc reports to communicate business performance and product opportunities to management and key cross-functional partners.
Develop and train Assistant Buyer on best-in-class buying and merchandising practices.
Organize cross-functional task forces as business needs arise or special projects present themselves.

How you will do it:
Build a strong relationship with the Global Category Managers, collaborating on the assortment strategy for DTC: including segmentation, seasonal flow, and CC productivity.
Engage in Go-to-Market (GTM) process – apply current selling and channel trend knowledge to support future product line architecture.
Partner with Planning team on reacting to business - identifying chase, cancel, and transfer opportunities to achieve/exceed sales and sell-thru targets.
Ensure alignment, clear communication, and synergy within POD (buying/planning/site merchandising teams).
Analyze results of previous buy strategies and make tactical adjustments to capitalize on opportunities for increased profitability.
Instill in your team a passion for continuous improvement, upholding the DTC Buying team’s values of teamwork, optimism, integrity, courage, and curiosity.

Improved financial performance – increase in Retail Sales, Inventory Turnover, and Margin Rate.
Seasonal achievement of quantitative and qualitative briefs.
Strong team dynamic – effective working relationships with internal and cross-functional stakeholders.

Skills for Success

Years of Related Professional Experience: 3+ years in DTC Buying (or Planning and Allocation)

Educational Position Requirements:
A formal education and subsequent undergraduate/graduate degrees are nice to have, but we are most interested in your total experience and professional achievements.

What we expect you already know:
Intermediate to Advanced user of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
First-rate business acumen with proven ability in driving financial results
Sound decision-making skills and the facility to plan and prioritize short- and long-range projects
Flexibility and Agility – quickly understand, assess & problem solve
Exemplary business writing skills
Effective verbal communication skills, including meeting facilitation and presentations
Digital or Omni buying experience preferred

Salary Range:
$90,720.00 USD - $136,080.00 USD annually

Annual Incentive Eligibility :
This position is eligible to participate in VF's Annual Incentive Plan. Incentive Plan awards are contingent upon (1) achievement of your individual objectives and (2) VF achieving its' Corporate and business level financial objectives.

Long Term Incentive Eligibility :
This position is not eligible for long term incentive.
