$5,178 -$6,812 per month, salary commensurate w/ training and experience

Duties Summary

Exempt, non-civil service, full-time, temporary appointment. The primary purpose of this position is to analyze sequencing data and perform pattern analyses of biological systems in support of epidemiological investigations. The position prepares diagrams of relatedness of strains and possible patterns of spread and detects presence of mutations related to resistance to treatment or vaccine.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

EDUCATION: 1. Post-baccalaureate degree in the field of biological, medical or applied science from an accredited college or university. 2. Laboratory classes in bioinformatics. 3. Major in biological sciences, molecular biology, mathematics, or bioinformatics.

EXPERIENCE: 1. At least three years’ experience in bioinformatics for bacteria and/or viruses, preferably in bioinformatics of infectious agents. 2. Laboratory experience with sequencing technologies and library preparation technologies, preferred.

The overall experience must have been of such scope and responsibility to demonstrate the ability to perform the duties described above.

LICENSE: Must meet all applicable state and federal requirements and clearances. A valid driver’s license is preferred.
