General Purpose:
To assist Attorneys, Paralegals and Legal Assistants/Specialist in the research, special projects, document review and preparation of client litigation matters.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assist attorneys, paralegals and legal assistants with document production, including document review, organization, designating documents as restricted, confidential, privileged or other specified determination, and prepare and maintain corresponding indices.
  • Create and maintain notebooks and indices for discovery, key documents, witnesses, depositions, exhibits, court/jury notebooks, trial notebooks, etc. for use by attorneys and others.
  • Prepare and organize discovery and witness files.
  • Search databases and prepare materials pertinent to trial for attorney review.
  • Conduct special project research of exhibits and other documents for litigation teams.
  • Assist attorneys, paralegals and legal assistants with case related projects.
  • Conduct litigation discovery document review.
  • Assist with post-trial organization of case materials.
  • Pull and copy cases, statutes, deposition excerpts, etc., cited in briefs.
  • Research online for docket information and obtain copies of documents filed in various courts.
  • Knowledge and experience using MS Office Suite, with extensive use of Excel, and the ability to quickly learn ECF PACER, iCourt, Adobe Acrobat Pro, iManage DeskSite, Expert Time, BDS file transfer system, and other litigation support software that the firm will provide training on.
  • Create databases, using Relativity, CaseMap Suite, or other database software the firm may use.
  • Copy and transfer electronic data to magnetic media for production of materials outside of the firm.
  • Assist other departments as needed.

Job Qualifications (Education, Experience and Certification):
High School degree with 3 years of court experience, or College degree with 1 year of court experience. Must understand the court systems, legal terminology, case documents, and a basic understanding of trial procedures, including pre- and post-trial document timelines. Must work well with all levels of personnel, including attorneys, paralegals, legal assistants and other staff members.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee must have the ability to sit, stand and/or walk for extended periods of time; manipulate (lift, carry, move) weights of at least ten (10) pounds; have repetitive wrist/hand/finger movement to work on a computer and/or related office equipment; speak clearly and concisely so listeners can understand; and regularly understand the speech of another person.

Work Environment:

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $1.00 - $1.50 per hour
