Responsibilities

Acts as a resource to adult program staff concerning licensure requirements, court orders, client insurance benefits, managed care organization requirements and other community resources.
Provides care coordination for psychiatric services, including scheduling psychiatric appointments, refilling medications and being the point of contact for any questions related to psychiatric services.
Participates in House of Mercy’s Performance Quality Improvement Process through the routine review and auditing of adult client charts insuring that all regulatory, accreditation, and program related expectations are met in a timely and qualitative manner.
Authors and submits written progress reports to supervisor on staff compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and program specific expectations.
Verifies insurance coverage, eligibility and pre-authorizations and assists clients to determine benefit.
Assists clients with transactions (e.g. cashing checks, paying deposit, entrusting monies for safekeeping, withdrawing funds, etc.).
Cooperates with all Federal, State, and other legal entities in any compliance reviews or investigations.
Provides front desk coverage including, greeting and assisting clients/visitors (crisis, walk-ins., etc.) and answering phones in a professional manner, routing all calls to their appropriate destination.
Auditing staff conformance with program discharge protocols.
Coordinating and submitting reports for court committed clients.
Submitting ISMART data as needed.
Retrieving and submitting all medical records upon request.
Facilitates the timely enrollment of clients in mainstream programs (i.e., Medicaid, Medical Necessity, SNAP benefits, FIP,etc.
Inputs, updates, requests, transmits and queries information from a variety of sources to maintain current accurate records or to access databases for information.
Compiles client and financial data necessary for grant projects as assigned through the use of word processing, spreadsheets, and government database applications.
Attends community and informational meetings to keep House of Mercy current and to network with other agencies; attends training on relevant topics to stay current in meeting requirements of licensing and other regulations, and to obtain information to better serve clients.
Attends and participates in team meetings and training sessions as scheduled or appropriate.
Works on special projects as assigned. Participates on committees as appropriate and performs related duties as required.
Assists the Director in the development of programs and/or quality improvement projects, as directed.
Maintains an awareness of and adheres to mandatory child and dependent adult abuse reporting laws.
Maintains an awareness of and adheres to Federal confidentiality laws.
Maintains communications, on a professional level, with all co-workers, department staff, referral sources, vendors, donors, and residents.
Trains other office personnel as needed and requested.
Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a human services related discipline from an accredited four-year program, required.
Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three (3) months of hire.
Valid Driver’s License required, must meet Mercy’s Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, must be at least 18 years of age and be eligible to drive per Iowa state law.
Ability to understand medical terminology and communicate effectively with healthcare professionals.
Excellent communication skills.
