Position Summary
The Credentialing Verification Specialist I is responsible for assuring that the credentialing of providers is conducted in accordance with organizational policies and procedures. The Specialist I perform activities associated with verification functions, letter tracking and follow-up on problems which may delay completion of the file.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Education: High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
License/Certifications: Certification as a Medical Staff Coordinator (CMSC) or Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) from the National Association of Medical Staff Services desirable.
Experience: Knowledge or experience of credentialing processes desirable.
Knowledge of medical terminology desired.
Computer database skills and word-processing required. Familiarity with Microsoft Office products a plus.
Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people.
Excellent written communication skills.
Excellent customer service skills and orientation.
High degree of organizational skills.
Ability to work independently. Demonstrates independent judgment along with the ability to seek guidance and/or support from appropriate resources.
