Position Summary

Reporting to the VP, Labor & People Relations, the Director, People Relations will oversee a team of customer-centric generalists. The ideal leader will have outstanding emotional intelligence with an enterprise-wide strategic lens for developing a high-performing group and building synergistic partnerships. This individual will have superior communications skills, both written and verbal, as they will regularly have audiences ranging from line-level employees to C-suite Executives.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Collaboration

Lead the People Relations Manager group in developing and maturing the team to be a high-performing team of professional generalists. This team will provide outstanding customer service to our people and will be exceptional collaborators within HR and across the business units
Create and execute a strategic plan to develop a strong team of professional generalists who can influence the HA employer brand and culture
Create metrics, standards, and processes that are consistent across the PRM group and aligned to HR Strategic goals
Elevate the skill set and talent level of the PRM group through training, mentoring, and coaching to meet the standards of excellence defined by the strategic plan
Identify and work on processes to improve technology utilization and automation to streamline PRM workload and capacity
Develop strategies in partnership with the Talent and Development team to enhance Hawaiian’s Employee Voice, performance management, and engagement programs
Create highly functional collaborative partnerships with all HR groups and disciplines
Create a roadmap for the development of a strategic partnerships with our business units

Employee Relations

Identify shared and related workstreams with our Labor Relations team – collective bargaining agreement interpretation, complaints/grievance resolution process, etc.
Evaluate and monitor ER resolutions for timeliness, effectiveness, and advocacy levels
Conduct objective, fact-finding investigations with outcomes towards resolution management
Mitigate risks for arbitrations or 3rd party representation

HR Processes & Support

Provide timely and accurate responses to HR inquiries related to, but not limited to: Healthcare & Wellness administration, Benefit offerings, Payroll issues & remediation, and Leave Management procedures
Create HR Library as knowledge resource for PRMs
Design and execute through collaboration with Talent Acquisition and Learning & Development an effective onboarding program
Partner with Talent and Development to provide business leaders the support and resources needed for effective change management
Partner with Organizational Design on workforce enablement opportunities
Partner with Learning & Development on leadership and training opportunities identified through business needs assessments
Provide information and feedback to business leaders in efforts towards achieving a diverse workforce
Ensure HR compliance execution on People Relation matters involving FLSA, FDA, FMLA, and Civil Rights Act of 1964

Other responsibilities

This role will also serve as the People Relations Manager for the HR business unit and support the Senior Officer group

Minimum Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in public administration, human resources, business administration or related field of study. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may subsitutedfor educational requirements.
8+ years of progressive HR experience
3+ years management experience of leading and managing others
Experience working with unionized work groups in an HR capacity
Experience working with HRIS/HCM systems
Demonstrated ability to create and execute strategic plans
Ability to present, defend, and influence a point of view
Ability to solve complex issues requiring cross-functional collaboration
Ability to maintain an enterprise-wide perspective; must have strong business acumen
Track record for demonstrating highest level of integrity, professional standards, and strict confidentiality
Highly capable of managing competing priorities
Ability to navigate through ambiguity while creating clarity
Must have received the COVID Vaccine by date of hire

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in business administration, human resources, or related field of study
2+ years managing team of generalists
UltiPro or UKG experience
