Instructional StrategiesDevelop and implement lesson plans for teaching the approved curriculum in the assigned grade level/subject and provide written evidence of preparation as required to the principal.Ensure lesson plans show modifications for differences in student learning styles and academic levels.Teach instructional subjects according to guidelines established by administrative regulations.Implement appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials and equipment to ensure comprehension of learning styles and student needs.Provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate and use, both in learning activities and in imaginative play/centers. Use computers, audiovisual aids, and other equipment and materials to supplement presentations. Design instructional activities by using data from student learning assessments.Collaborate with grade levels above you to ensure all areas are met.Cooperate with other members of the staff in planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aid(s) and/or volunteer(s).Use appropriate technologies in the teaching/learning process.Develop the student profile for each student in the classroom.Complete progress reports, report cards, and year end summarizes as needed.Complete all required documentation including (but not limited to) lesson plans, self-evaluations, and student evaluation by the assigned date. Student Growth and DevelopmentAssist students in analyzing and improving methods and habits of study.Assign and grade class work and homework as required by the district.Observe and evaluate student performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.Consistently assess student achievement through formal and informal testing.Prepare and implement remedial programs for students requiring extra help.

Guide and counsel students with adjustment and/or academic problems, or special academic interests. Coordinate and manage extracurricular duties as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the principal.Present a positive role model for students that support the mission of the school.Classroom Management and OrganizationCreate a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of students.Manage student behavior in the classroom and other areas as appropriate and administer discipline according to board policies, and administrative regulations.Establish and enforce rules for behavior and classroom procedures for maintaining order for assigned students. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials, as needed.CommunicationEstablish communication rapport with parents, students, and teachers through conferences, along with administration.Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their childrens progress, and to determine their priorities for their children and their resource needs, on a three week basis.

Create and maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents and community members.Present information accurately through clear written and verbal communication skills.ProfessionalEnrich job skills through professional development activities.Adhere to the Texas Educators Preamble listed in the Employee Handbook.Conduct yourself in a positive professional manner.Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers Compile, manage and file all reports, records and other required documents in a timely mannerParticipate in staff development activities and serve on staff committees as necessary.Regular and punctual (Consistent) attendance Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental FactorsMaintain emotional control under stressLong periods of standing, walking Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushingMove small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipmentAbility to lift 25 lbs
