Job Duties

The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) Office of Human Resources is searching for an experienced HR Generalist to work in a fast-paced office environment. The incumbent in this position will perform the duties of the Time and Labor Coordinator for the state agency (GaDOE) and 3 state schools. This is a deadline driven position and must meet established deadlines while working both independently and in a team environment. The successful candidate must possess knowledge of federal and state laws, state policies and procedures, payroll, benefits, and other personnel matters. Additionally, the successful candidate will have the ability to successfully communicate this information to GaDOE employees. Some of the duties include, but are not limited to:

Manage time and labor for the agency and state schools
Process transactions for assigned units/departments (i.e., new hires, terminations, retirement, promotions, demotions, payroll garnishments, and etc.)
Provide exceptional customer service when responding to internal and external inquiries
Develop and maintain electronic spreadsheets
File personnel information and other documentation in a timely manner
All other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Associate's degree or higher from an accredited college or university

OR

Two years of human resource experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:

2+ years of experience managing time and labor
2+ years of experience working in a central human resources office for a state, federal, or local government agency
3+ years of experience utlizing PeopleSoft HRMS with a Georgia government agency
Experience working in a central human resources office for a state, federal, or local government agency
Experience in applying HR knowledge and best practices in a government agency

The successful candidate should possess the following skills/abilities:

Proficiency in time and labor
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Teams, Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint)
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to successfully multi-task
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of personnel information

This position is a teleworking position. Employee may be required to attend meetings in the central office in down town Atlanta.

Associate's degree from an accredited college or university OR Two years of human resource experience.
