The Flynn Center for the Performing Arts is Northern New England’s premiere performing arts center. The Flynn offers a wide range of cultural and educational experiences and nurtures the creative development of performing artists. Our facilities include a 1,411-seat proscenium auditorium (Flynn Main Stage), a 180-seat black box cabaret space (Flynn Space), two education studios, a gallery with rotating exhibits of regional artists, and adjoining lobbies.

The Flynn hosts over 200 performances and over 50 camps and classes annually. Regularly scheduled performances include the Flynn season, which features world-class music, Broadway, theater, dance, and family performances on our Main Stage, with additional touring shows added throughout the year and weekday matinees presented through our Student Matinee Series, in addition to the Burlington Discover Jazz Festival. The Flynn also provides a performance venue for the Vermont Symphony Orchestra, the Vermont Youth Orchestra, Lyric Theatre, and other local arts organizations.

Basic Function

Employee development, experience, and culture are critical elements to our success and one of our top priorities. The Human Resources Coordinator will assist all employees in meeting their career goals and help foster a welcoming and encouraging environment for everyone. They will provide support and information to the staff related to employment terms, benefits, and payroll. They will make all efforts to ensure both open communication and equitable processes in all aspects of our work regarding the needs of the people who are a part of the Flynn family.

Characteristic Duties & Responsibilities
Support the recruitment process by posting positions, communicating with applicants, and organizing incoming information for hiring managers.
Administer employee benefits and respond to employee questions.
Support annual open enrollment process by preparing annual census data for brokers, preparing paperwork packets, entering election changes, and communicating with employees regarding follow-up questions.
Respond to requests for employee/employment related information including verifications of employment and census data.
Prepare for monthly staff meetings including booking the space, providing snacks, coordinating IT needs, etc.
Process bi-weekly payroll and make changes to employee information as needed.
Processing flexible spending reimbursements.
Maintain the payroll databases; process new-hires, terminations, and status changes.
Respond to employees about payroll and benefit questions.
Process FMLA and disability paperwork.
Monitor Combined Time Office balances.
Oversee new employee on-boarding.
Collaborate with staff to Organize Functions & celebrations
Other duties as assigned.

Supervision Received

Reports to the general manager.

2-5 years Human Resources administrative experience
Excellent written, verbal, and in-person communication skills
Microsoft Office experience required; ADP experience helpful
Ability to handle highly confidential information with discretion
Adaptability to changing business needs
Ability to establish and maintain professional communications and relationships with superiors, peers and coworkers
Detail oriented
Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment
Honest, respectful, kind, and patient
