Position description:
The Human Resources Generalist will perform a variety of HR-related duties to support our NEFCU population. This position will have responsibilities in employee relations, employee engagement, policy and program interpretation, compensation/salary administration, employment law and compliance.
Specific duties include:
- Builds and maintains effective working relationships with all employees. Serves as the first point of contact on employment questions and clarification on company policy, guidelines, timecard questions, COVID guidance and human resources related items.
- Provides guidance to supervisors and all levels of management on employee development, employee relations, disciplinary action and correspondence. Provides guidance and support for goal creation for annual reviews. Works directly with supervisors/managers on employee ADA considerations and keeps the Benefit Specialist abreast as applicable.
- Responsible for various employment compliance and audit processes. Will be the point of contact and coordinator of information for non-benefits internal/external audits. Responsible for ensuring on-line regulatory compliance posters are up to date, communicates/takes action when regulations change and provides guidance to the HR Assistant on compliance poster distribution. Reviews NEFCU HR policies and practices and recommends updates for compliance with federal and state employment regulations, as well as industry best practices and NEFCU culture. Supports employee handbook/policy review and revisions.
- Creates, revise’s and classifies job descriptions within BalancedComp. Works directly with vendor on proper grade alignment and provides compensation guidance for recruitment purposes. Responsible for determining proper exemption status and EEOC
- Administers the company and individual bonus process associated with corporate and individual performance reviews. Conducts annual salary surveys for executive roles within the credit union.
- Five years to eight years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience.
- A college degree.
- A significant level of trust, credibility and diplomacy is required. In-depth dialogue, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors can be of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature. Communications may involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance. Typically includes subject matter experts as well as first level to middle managers.
- Must be familiar with FMLA, ADA, HIPAA, FLSA, EEOC and other federal, state employment laws. Proven professional problem-solving skills. Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.
