Annual Salary Range: $49,312 - $56,813 WORKING ON ANY ASSIGNED SHIFT ANY DAY OR NIGHT OF THE WEEK OR DURING EMERGENCY SITUATIONS WILL BE REQUIRED. Job Summary: Perform maintenance and improvements to Airport roads, grounds, runways, taxiways, parking areas, buildings, fixtures, and fence lines. Operate and maintain specialized motorized equipment for the purpose of grounds maintenance and snow removal. Work is performed to maintain compliance with FAA standard.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: • Operate and maintain a variety of motorized equipment to include: Vans, trucks, loaders backhoes, skid steer, graders, sweepers, and specialized snow removal equipment. Perform daily maintenance and make minor adjustments on equipment. • Perform maintenance, repairs and improvements to Airport roads, grounds, airfield pavement and fence lines. • Perform maintenance and repairs to Airport buildings and fixtures.

  • Participate in various training classes and seminars. Assist in training other maintenance personnel. Minimum Requirements: • High school diploma or G. E.
D. equivalency is required. • Two (2) years of experience of semi-skilled mechanical, building and grounds is required. • Possession of a valid Wisconsin Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B with air brake endorsement at time of application and maintained during incumbency is required • Class 1 Airport Driver’s License within 6 months of appointment is required.

  • Ability to lift/carry up to 60 lbs. and push/pull up to 60Ibs. Is required. • Must have good eyesight, hearing and physical ability is required.
  • Able to work long hours during emergency situations and in adverse weather is required (NOTE: Appointees to Airport Maintenance Worker positions must successfully demonstrate skill in the use and operation of airport equipment.) THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE OMNIBUS TRANSPORTATION TESTING ACT OF 1991 AND THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION REGULATIONS, INCLUDING MANDATORY DRUG AND ALCOHOL TESTING, APPLY TO THESE POSITIONS. THE APPOINTING DEPARTMENT WILL CONDUCT A BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION WITH PREVIOUS EMPLOYERS AND DRUG TESTING OF ALL CANDIDATES CERTIFIED FOR APPOINTMENT. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Contact with employees or others primarily at routine level involving basic information exchange. • Contact with peers and other involving explanation of information (these contacts may be within or outside department or division), and the gathering of factual information.
May include the communication of sensitive or confidential information. • Limited external contact: gather information, answer queries, or ask assistance. • Read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos • Read and interpret safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals. • Regularly makes decisions involving how a project or operation will be conducted (i.e., sequence or method), and generally form an available set of alternatives or precedents.

Note: This Original Examination is open to current residents of the state of Wisconsin. In accordance with Rule III section 11 of the Civil Service Rules a non-competitive examination will be held for this position. The non-competitive examination will consist of a review of candidate materials, education, and related experience.
