Job Description:
Vertex is seeking Electronics Technicians Maintenance I to perform radar transmitter duties on the COBRA DANE radar system located at Shemya, Alaska. This position is a remote assignment with a rotation of approximately 8 weeks on island and 5 weeks off island. This position is governed by the Service Contract (ETM II 23181) and paid IAW the Alaska Wage Determination.

The candidates will be required to apply basic and some advanced technical knowledge solving transmitter problems by interpreting manufacturer’s manuals, USAF Technical Orders, local operating instructions, and other documents. Work requires familiarity with electronic circuitry, work planning, tool selection, and testing instruments. This position works under the supervision and receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician. Typical duties include: Perform operation and maintenance of transmitter control console; maintain array face antenna elements; maintain splitter/shifter driver packages and divider/combiners; repair receiver protectors,

Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) assemblies, and mono-pulse comparators; maintain transmitter beam forming networks, high power Traveling Wave Tubes (TWTs), regulated and unregulated power supplies, radar modulators, built-in test equipment, transmitter ancillary equipment, and pulse circuits; perform RF measurements; maintain inspection, maintenance, and repair records; and perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:
Active DoD Secret Security Clearance required

Two years’ experience with high-power radar transmitters and microwave systems

Experience to identify and resolve problems

Experience in troubleshooting and repair of analog and digital circuitry, power supplies, fault detection circuitry, microwave components, and waveguides

Experience and ability to determine what system, subsystem or component require action to improve radar performance

Familiarity in use and care of various electronic test equipment including logic and spectrum analyzers

Experience in reading and interpreting electrical schematics

Proficient with Microsoft suite including Word and Excel

Good oral and written communication skills

Good understanding of electrical safety procedures/precautions

Desired Skills:
Experience working with USAF Technical Orders

USAF records management experience

Quality control experience

Quality Assurance training and experience

Required Education (including Major) & Experience:
High school graduate and two years technical electronics training, or equivalent experience.
