Duties

Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Performs observation-based screening and collecting patient information in collaboration with licensed personnel.
Completes approved templates and tools, such as the outpatient intake form, normal result notes, and follow up treatment protocols established by the agency.
Assists in behavioral/psychiatric situations in an outpatient setting.
Assists licensed staff with preparing patients for medical evaluation, setting up equipment, passing instruments and providing treatment during in person or virtual visits.
Collects a wide range of specimens and preparing them for transfer to processing.
Assists with patient exams and screening, utilizing technology such as telehealth.
Provides patient education within scope of care or while providing an intervention.
Complies with national and local directives and policies while administering medication.
This position will support the Federal Government's response efforts to COVID-19.
Work Schedule: 7:30am-4:00pm

640- Intermediate Care Technician Series has an Individual Occupational Requirement that must be met in addition to the Specialized Experience for the GS 07 grade level.

Individual Occupational Requirements: Specialized experience which demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction. Positions in this series range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Therefore, technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled.

In addition to the IOR, candidates must meet the following specialized experience:

GS-07 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: Specimen collection; Obtaining vital signs; Administering medication; Responding to medical emergencies; Setting up equipment for medical procedures; Assisting with patient exams; Changing wound dressing. OR

Applicants may substitute education for the experience required for the GS-07 level. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have One full year of graduate education meets the requirements for GS-7 only in those instances where it is directly related to the work of the position (Transcripts Required). OR

Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at the GS-07 level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond one year of graduate education that is directly related to the work of this position. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED - must have conferred date of degree for full credit. Education cannot be credited without documentation).

To calculate, first identify the percentage of required education you have earned (when substituting, you cannot use the first 60 semester hours that you earned). Then identify the percentage of required experience you possess. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify at the GS-07. For example, an applicant who has 9 semester hours of graduate level education (i.e. 50% of graduate education required) and 6 months of creditable specialized experience (i.e. 50% of the required experience) would equal 100% of the required experience for the position A transcript must be submitted with your application if you are basing all or part of your qualifications on education.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
