The Mail Processor Lead is responsible for coordinating the daily operations of the mailroom.
Essential Functions
Coordinates the activities of mailroom employees, assigns tasks and assists the section manager in the annual evaluation of employees
Trains staff in the operation of all equipment and machinery
Manages equipment and services contracts
Meets with US postal authorities to assure compliance with postal regulations and to ensure the best value for WSSC Water
Drives a vehicle to conduct WSSC Water business
Other Functions
Meets with customers and management to plan and organize mailing projects
Prepares monthly statistics and performs other administrative functions for mail related activities
Maintains thorough knowledge of postal regulations and requirements as set forth in the USPS Domestic Mail Manual
Assists and instructs others regarding proper procedures to prepare mail and packages for the best value for the Commission
Keeps abreast of postal and mail service technology, making recommendations for improvement of WSSC Water operations as appropriate
Distributes and delivers all US mail, parcels, and packages
Operates mail machines, including inserter, and recording data as appropriate
Prepares mail and packages for delivery by the US Postal Service, DHL, FedEx, and UPS, as well as by private couriers at the best value for WSSC Water
Uses a personal computer and intranet/internet resources in support of operations
Fills in for staff as needed
Performs other related duties as assigned
Work Environment And Physical Demands
Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Thorough knowledge of postal rates, regulations and requirements as they pertain to the Commission’s needs
Working knowledge of mail room equipment and machinery
Ability to assign work and direct staff
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with postal service employees, internal customers, and delivery service employees
Ability to use standard office software and the internet
Minimum Education, Experience Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent
3+ years of experience in mail room operations
