Summary

The Strategy and Transformation Delivery department within the Office of the President works across the Agency to align, enable, and support the development and implementation of our strategy. The team is responsible for the delivery of large and complex transformational projects. It builds capacity to help our people lead and navigate change and focus our resources on the most important work. The Strategy and Transformation Delivery department partners with SCUS divisions and Save the Children International (SCI/A) to advance our breakthroughs and optimize SCUS’ contribution to the movement.

The Associate, Project Management will be an integral part of the team supporting the Transformation portfolio. The successful deployment of Transformation projects will result in operational efficiencies and the ability to deliver more and better quality programs for the children we serve.

In this role, you will either be leading smaller projects, or serving as a Project Manager alongside a Project/Program Lead on larger projects. You will be responsible for leading project activities, ensuring that those activities are planned, resourced, and tracked. You will be a focal point for any questions on the status of project activities, including related risks and issues, applying project management practices, ensuring alignment across team members and driving continuous improvements.

What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

Project Management (80%)

Responsible for the day-to-day management and coordination of the project according to the project plan and schedule.
Develop and lead the delivery of the project, where appropriate, using agreed upon project management methodology.
Establish and facilitate plans for the project (or subset thereof), taking into consideration business deadlines, dependencies, resources, and costs.
Monitor progress throughout to ensure that project activities are delivered on time and in alignment with business expectations, escalate obstacles to delivery.
Develop / contribute to project controls such as the project plan, resource plan, risk and issue logs, interdependency matrix and scope management.
Maintain the project controls, proactively identifying and managing project risks and issues, driving actions to mitigate or resolve.
Set up and maintain the repository of documentation for each stage of project lifecycle, ensuring that all documentation has a clear purpose in driving the project forward.
Work with the Change Management assigned to the project to ensure all change activities are incorporated into the plan and that there is a communications plan that includes channels to all impacted stakeholders.

Stakeholder Management (10%)

Lead / contribute to stakeholder identification, mapping and engagement for the project.
Facilitate the engagement of relevant SC staff and other stakeholders, encouraging a culture of taking responsibility for both resolving issues and celebrating successes.
Ensure communications developed are fit for purpose and meet project needs.
Provide / contribute to regular status reports that support effective decision making within the project, at the Management Review Group (MRG) level, and across the portfolio of projects, with clear escalation and decision-making.

Capacity Building (10%)

Implement best practices and procedures in project management within the project and contribute to the continuous improvement of the project management tools.
Train and coach staff in the methodology for Project Management, Continuous Improvement, Change Management and Accelerated Delivery and Improvement.
Perform other duties as may be required.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent, plus at least three years of relevant experience
Demonstrated experience managing small to medium scale projects and/or supporting larger scale projects
Proven working knowledge of project management concepts, approaches and tools
Professional proficiency in verbal and written English to effectively and accurately communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and staff
Demonstrated success in self-directed and results-driven initiatives with a strong customer focus
Proven success in handling multiple competing priorities and working well within tight timelines
Proven ability to collaborate successfully with individuals and teams at all levels
Demonstrated success in a hands-on working environment with proven problem solving and planning skills
Professional proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusion, and belonging

Preferred Qualifications

Continuous Improvement Green Belt / Yellow Belt
Accelerated Delivery and Improvement certification
PMP certification or project management coursework
Working knowledge of MS Teams or similar collaboration tool
