Position Summary:
Interact with customers to provide information in response to inquiries about products and services, process orders, and handle and resolve complaints.

Essential Functions:
Confer with customers by telephone or in person to provide information about products and services, to take or enter orders, create accounts, or to obtain details of complaints.
Keep records of customer interactions and transactions, recording details of inquiries, complaints, and comments, as well as actions taken.
Check to ensure that appropriate changes were made to resolve customers' problems.
Determine charges for customer orders and arrange for billing credit cards when appropriate.
Refer unresolved customer grievances to designated departments for further investigation.
Resolve customers' service or billing complaints by performing activities such as exchanging merchandise, refunding money, and adjusting bills.
Compare disputed merchandise with original requisitions and information from invoices, and prepare return materials authorizations and invoices for returned goods.
Solicit sale of new or additional products.
Recommend improvements in products, packaging, shipping, service, or billing methods and procedures to prevent future problems.
Enter customer orders into Prophet 21 system with precise accuracy, checking all locations for stock and substitutes, and selecting shipping method that is the best option.
Input price quotes and support the sales staff.
Recognize, document, and alert the supervisor of problem trends in quality control.
Provide customers with backorder information immediately upon order placement as well as after 3 weeks of a backorder and every 3 weeks that the order remains open.
File and follow up on freight claims.
Process credit checks for potential new customers. Management must approve the issuance of a terms account number.

Education & Experience:
Education: Bachelor's degree required, or 5 years of related experience in the industry.

Experience: No prior experience necessary

Computer Skills: Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, know how to use the internet for research and marketing, as well as adapt easily to new systems.
