Join the field of Correctional Health at the South Dakota State Penitentiary! Correctional Health staff provide health care to an underserved population in a secure clinic environment. Medication Aides work under the direct supervision of a nurse to perform basic patient care services, including medication administration. The Medication Aides are FULL-TIME and work three 12-hour shifts, and will be included in a weekend and holiday rotation. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and climb up stairs.

Licenses and Certifications:
Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) are encouraged to apply.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Prior experience in a health care setting.

Knowledge of:
the principles of patient care, such as first aid and housekeeping;
medical terminology, medical equipment, and supplies;
medications and reactions to medications;
basic arithmetic;
basic computer skills.

Ability to:
work with speed and accuracy in critical situations;
follow oral and written instructions in detail;
prepare records and reports;
maintain satisfactory relationships with other employees;
perform a variety of routine cleaning tasks;
maintain empathetic attitude toward patients;
perform routine procedures accurately;
maintain patient confidentiality.
