Plumbing Inspector
The Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses is seeking an individual who wants to give back to their community in a meaningful, direct and tangible way by helping to provide consumer protection and public safety through its regulation of more than 204,000 licensees within 48 Boards and Commissions for the great State of Idaho.
Description
The Idaho Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses is looking for a Plumbing Inspector to conduct commercial and residential inspections in the Ada County and surrounding area.
This is a full-time position with full state benefits. The anticipated work schedule is 40 hours per week with some occasional overtime required.
To be considered for this position, applicants must be licensed as a Journeyman Plumber in Idaho and have at least five years of plumbing experience in accordance with Idaho Code, Section 54-2627. Additional certification as a Plumbing Inspector will need to be obtained within 6 months of hire (see below for more details).
Plumbing Inspectors are prohibited from being engaged directly or indirectly, or financially interested, in any plumbing business, trade, practice, or work, or the sale of related supplies.

Example of Duties
Conducting inspections or reviews of activities, including determining compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and laws;
Providing technical advice and assistance in best practices and corrective actions;
Overseeing implementation of safety codes, regulations, and laws;
Conducting on-site inspections, investigating complaints, and seeking compliance with regulations and safety standards;
Assembling and preparing background information and documentation regarding noncompliance activities, code violations, safety reviews, and licensure discrepancies;
Providing technical expertise to building officials, building representatives, contractors, and the public;
Assisting management and legal staff in addressing violations and possibly testifying in court or in administrative hearings.
Physical Activities:
Walking throughout the day;
Crawling in and out of confined spaces including attics and crawl spaces;
Climbing series of stairs in multistory buildings;
Climbing ladders up to 14 feet high;
Driving a state vehicle throughout the day;
Moving building material weighing up to 50 pounds.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience: analyzing data for the purposes of making recommendations; operating a personal computer; analyzing data and preparing written reports.
Valid driver's license.
MQ Specialties:
Licensure in Idaho as a journeyman plumber, and at least five years' experience as a journeyman plumber in accordance with Idaho Code 54-2627.
Experience interpreting building diagrams, plans, and specifications.
Desired Certification:
Previous certification as a Plumbing Inspector is not required at the time of hire but may improve your standing as an applicant. Additionally, the successful candidate will be required to obtain certification through the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) within 6 months of hire.
