Position Summary The Program Specialist position is an integral part of the Children's Campus grant-funded and special programs' efficient functioning, planning, and implementation of a closely associated set of program initiatives for the Children's Campus. The Children's Campus currently serves 300 children and families, providing high-quality early childhood education services to the University of New Mexico Community. The successful candidate will participate in the generation of program resources and in the design and development of program operating goals, objectives, and protocols, serving as the primary point for both internal and external representation and serve as a liaison related to program implementation and the Children's Campus operational matters, to include providing technical and professional programmatic guidance, consultation, and support in various capacities.
This individual will support the planning and implementation of grant-funded and special programs, serving as the primary liaison with internal and external constituencies on all matters relating to program activities, representing the Children's Campus with respect to program activities on a local, regional, and national basis. Duties will also include oversite, coordination of programs, collection, compilation, and analysis of program activity data, developing, grant writing, and presenting comprehensive statistical and narrative program reports and evaluations. Program support with creating and producing promotional, educational, and informational presentations related to the center is an essential part of the Program Specialist position, including planning, developing, and implementing strategies for identifying funding opportunities to generate revenue to support special programs.

Conditions of Employment
Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
If located at the UNM Children's Campus, successful candidate must pass a comprehensive post-offer, pre-employment criminal and New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department (CYFD) fingerprint background check, and a continued successful status will be verified by periodic future background checks.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; at least 6 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with children and families
Knowledge of CYFD Childcare Licensing Regulations
Experience writing grants
Ability to determine informational needs, to collect and analyze information, and to devise and develop statistical analyses and reports.
Demonstrated professional knowledge and operational expertise within designated area of program focus.
Program planning, development, implementation, and leadership skills.
Ability to develop and deliver both oral and written presentations.
Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart information to a range of clientele and/or media sources.
Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
Skill in examining and evaluating operations and developing and/or re-engineering operating strategies, systems, and procedures.
Ability to develop and implement funding strategies and programs.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.
Additional Requirements A negative COVID test is required prior to the start date.
