Center Point Energy* is looking for a* Customer Service Representative - LCL12 Clerk 8 SS to join our Team, located in Minneapolis, MN*.
You will have the ability to provide quality, prompt and accurate responses to customer inquiries, complaints, or sales/promotional opportunities for CenterPoint Energy gas and/ or electric customers in a fast paced, high-volume environment. Performs direct customer contact through various channels including phone, email, and chat. Completes administrative functions and data entry.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Respond to all questions relating to all Company customer service inquiries via verbal and/or written communication with a focus on one call resolution
  • Issue orders to establish or discontinue gas service or to establish gas service
  • Resolve billing inquiries, perform account adjustments, negotiate payment arrangements and deposit amounts, processes online customer service and electronic billing inquiries and follows-up on customer accounts
  • Negotiate and/or accept payments and payment arrangements with delinquent customers that achieve mutually agreed upon terms and conditions following outlined policies
  • Manage customer complaints within guidelines of company policy to ensure consistency and the highest quality of customer service. Provide follow-up by completing appropriate records and documentation.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Company systems, policies, procedures, reporting and other information to identify customer needs and ensure customer satisfaction
  • Consider each customer contact as an opportunity to sell or promote additional value-added products or services offered by the company (i.e. IVR, Web, etc.)

Your background includes:

  • Require a high school education or GED
  • Requires one (1) year of customer service experience.

  • Possess working knowledge of a PC, mainframe computer systems, data entry proficiency, strong time-management, and organizational follow-up skills.
  • Exhibit desirable and appropriate professional behavior including integrity and the ability to get along with others.
  • Able to establish and build customer loyalty by expressing empathy toward customers and providing solutions to meet our customer needs.
  • Able to work well in a team-based environment to accomplish assignments and achieve objectives.
  • Able to communicate effectively with employees, management, and others, both orally and in writing.
  • Able to meet all competency-based assessments and other selection criteria as determined by the Human Resources Department for this position. Present performance level, relevant experience, structured interview and demonstrated skills will also be considered in determining qualifications.
  • Must not be on any steps regarding the disciplinary process.
  • Able to demonstrate commitment to compliance with applicable laws and regulations, the Company’s Ethics and Compliance Code of Conduct, and other Company policies and procedures and do so consistently, take all required training courses and do so timely.
  • Able to demonstrate respect for all individuals, adhere to the Company’s values and business practices and do so consistently.
