About Our Job

All positions are on-call and will work no more than 39 hours per week and are not eligible for benefits. On-call positions may have routine or variable work schedules, so open availability is needed. Selected candidates can expect to work a minimum of 20 hours per week, and up to 39 hours per week, depending on availability of the individual and needs of the department.

These positions are temporary based on the City’s COVID-19 response need. All necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided.

The City and County of Denver is seeking numerous Emergency Service Workers to support COVID-19 response efforts. Denver is committed to supporting long-term recovery for the whole community by coordinating with local, state and federal partners in support of the citizens of Denver. These positions will be a part of the City’s COVID-19 Emergency Response Team to conduct COVID-19 testing at various locations throughout Denver.

The main responsibilities of these positions will include, but not be limited to, the following:

Provide testing kit to individual being tested, explain how to self-administer the test, explain proper placement of swap into vial, and place vial in labeled envelope and sealing for delivery.

View documents to confirm identity of individual being tested, document information, and create accurate label for test kit. Print label to adhere to test kit envelope and provide labeled envelope to test kit staff.

Maintain test kit supply at each drive-up station.

Assist with traffic control, crowd (line) management, and logistics of test sites (site setup/take down, resupply, registration, etc.)

Setting up and sanitizing the vaccination area; preparing, recording, securing, and transporting vaccines and vaccine information; and operating a city vehicle.

All staff for this program will be trained prior to deployment and will be given personal protective equipment to wear during vaccinations. These individuals will be interfacing directly with individuals.

About You

Our ideal candidate will have:
Previous experience working in a COVID-19 response capacity in Colorado

Open and flexible schedule (ability to work at least 20 hours per week)

Ability to travel to various locations throughout Denver

Basic skills in crisis management

Bi-lingual ability in Spanish or other languages

Strong communication skills and the ability to be an active listener

Culturally sensitive and aware; professional and tactful

Flexible and adaptable with the ability to multi-task in an ever-changing environment

Attention to detail, positive attitude
