We partner with the business managers and HR COEs to build win-win partnerships delivering customer-focused and quality driven solutions while striving for operational excellence and global consistency

Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes you will work toward over the first 6-12 months?

We need someone to join our team and be a consultant for People Managers and Leaders when seeking HR solutions to business problems. You will do this in collaboration with HR COEs, your team members in HR Services and other critical stakeholders.

In the first 6-12 months:
You will become a strong Tier-2 support/consultant to guide managers on employee issues/challenges or business needs which do not have ready to implement/deploy solutions.
You will collaborate with the other HR Services teams and Key stakeholders in you region, in proactively identifying business problems seeking HR solutions that require multiple stakeholders to come together.
You will prioritise 3-5 key solutions you will drive based on the people impact, scalability of implementation and long-term implications.
You will lead cross functional projects to arrive at appropriate solutions ensuring there are policies, processes in place and clarity of accountability for scalability of the solution. This may also require understanding industry best practices and bringing an outside-in viewpoint to arrive at a win-win solution.
You will engage with your peers across regions for understanding of processes and practices across regions.
You will build good understanding of the policies and philosophy related to promotions, compensation, leave of absence and other discretionary policies and play an active role in ensuring that these transactions in the system are validated and aligned to VMware philosophy and policies before approving
You will build partnerships across HR COEs and be seen as a strong partner while designing policies and programs from an employee experience perspective.
You will develop a strong understanding of HR Services tools and leverage the same for timely intake of issues and documentation of resolution for future reference.

The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

As the Management Consultant, you will:
Act as a Consultant for HR solutions to business problems that require engagement with multiple HR COEs. This will require influencing, consulting and project management to drive cross functional teams to arrive at a scalable solution.
Support Change Management for manager groups on Country/business specific policies which are not part of enterprise-wide policy implementation including enablement for all stakeholders for the future, leading Q&A sessions, partnering with COEs on communication draft, FAQs and project managing the change effort
Act as a Point of Escalation for inconsistent application of policies and processes and work with COEs and business to create alignment
Be an Approver for transactions in Workday that require audit and validation of process steps and flagging for anomalies – Compensation, Promotion, Employee Transfers, LOAs.
Proactively Intervene by identifying trends and patterns in issues being escalated by business and internal HR teams to proactively work with COEs and drive solutions. Proactively reach out to understand areas of importance to focus efforts, pre-empt problems, and get in front of challenges and obstacles before they occur.

Influencing the thought process or mindset of the managers/leaders, or key stakeholders for longer term impact of their decisions
Elevating the conversation to understand the big picture – how the problem being solved fits into overall strategy, long term vision etc
Understanding of foundational HR principles for navigation and risk mitigation
Working knowledge of HR operational tools
Understanding the business priorities with people implications
Questioning, framing data
Defining, planning and implementing projects with others to enable successful execution

The hiring manager for this role is Ranjit Vasudevan. He leads a globally distributed team of Management Consultants, and his leadership style is one of collaboration and partnership while solving for the big picture with a focus on business value creation. He brings overall 2 decades and of those 17 years of domain experience gained through being an HR Business Partner and HR solutions leader, holding leadership roles across varied Industries. He believes in building teams that are perceptive, self-driven, where everyone can count on each other while they strive to be the best version of themselves. Empowerment, transparency, and due diligence are key to this team.
